Common Hair-Related Rejection Reasons

❌ Fringe covering eyebrows or eyes

If your fringe falls below your eyebrow line, pin it back for the photo. Eyebrows must be clearly visible.

❌ Loose hair covering one side of the face

Hair must not obscure any part of your face. If you have long hair, sweep it behind your shoulders or tie it back.

❌ Large hair volume reducing head size measurement

Your head size in passport photos is measured from chin to crown (the top of your skull, not the top of your hair). PassportSnap accounts for this correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do ears need to be visible in a passport photo?
No — ears do not need to be visible in passport photos for the US, UK, Canada, or most other countries. Hair covering the ears is perfectly fine.
Can I wear my hair up in a passport photo?
Yes — updos, buns, and ponytails are all fine as long as your full face is clearly visible and unobstructed.
Can I have an unusual or brightly colored hairstyle in a passport photo?
Yes — passport authorities don't regulate hair color or style as long as your face is fully visible and unobstructed.
